What is MeritMap?

MeritMap is a modern advancement tracker built specifically for Scouts BSA troops. It replaces the spreadsheets, binders, and scattered apps that most troops cobble together to track rank advancement, merit badges, service hours, camping nights, and leadership positions.

Every scout, parent, and leader gets a clear view of where each scout stands on the trail to Eagle — what's done, what's next, and what needs attention. No more digging through paper records or chasing down blue cards.

Built for how troops actually work

  • Rank & merit badge tracking— every requirement, checkbox by checkbox. Sub-requirements, partial completions, and “do X of Y” requirements all handled correctly.
  • Approval workflow — scouts and parents mark requirements complete, leaders review and approve. Full audit trail with timestamps.
  • Events & calendar — troop events with RSVP, attendance tracking, photo albums, and iCal export for family calendars.
  • Service hours & camping nights — automatic tallies that feed into rank requirements. No more manual counting.
  • Troop communication — announcements, event reminders, email notifications with per-family unsubscribe controls.
  • Print-ready reports — requirement checklists, blue cards, and advancement reports ready for BOR or council submission.
  • Blaze, your AI Guide — an AI scout guide that can answer questions about merit badge requirements, suggest next steps, and help scouts plan their advancement.

Built for the whole troop

Scoutmastersget a single dashboard for the entire troop — see who's close to their next rank, review pending approvals, run advancement reports, and manage events.

Parentscan see their scout's progress at a glance, RSVP to events, view photo albums, and stay informed without asking the scoutmaster every week.

Scoutsget their own view of the trail ahead — which badges they're working on, what requirements are left, and how close they are to the next rank.

Committee members get read access to advancement data and can help with approvals when authorized by the scoutmaster.

The Pilot Offer

We're looking for 5 founding troops to join MeritMap early and help us build the best advancement tool in Scouting. In return, your troop gets:

  • Two full years of access at no cost — every feature, every scout, no limits.
  • Hands-on migration support— we'll help you import your existing advancement data from TroopMaster, Scoutbook, spreadsheets, or whatever you're using now.
  • Direct line to the development team — your feedback shapes what we build next. Founding troops get priority on feature requests.
  • Founding troop pricing— when the free period ends, pilot troops lock in the lowest rate we'll ever offer.

We're a small team building this because we believe troop advancement tracking shouldn't require a patchwork of tools from 2005. If that resonates, we'd love to work with your troop.

What we look for in pilot troops

  • Active troop with scouts working on advancement
  • A scoutmaster or committee member willing to give honest feedback
  • Any council, any state — we're not limited by geography
  • No technical setup required — MeritMap runs in a browser on any device
